Campi di osservazione

Girifalco 2005/2006

Negli autunni del 2005 e del 2006, dal 24 agosto al 12 settembre sono stati svolti sull'Appennino calabrese, nell'area del comune di Girifalco, due campi di osservazione sulla migrazione autunnale. Le osservazion sono state svolte contemporaneamente da tre differenti postazioni.

Sono stati osservati 4828 rapaci di 21 specie (vedi lista sotto), il primo anno; nel 2006 sono stati osservati 5324 appartenenti a 21 speci. Il Falco pecchiaiolo è stata la specie più abbondante. Non sono mancati momenti particolarmente entusiasmanti come il tentativo di predazione da parte di un astore su un pecchiaiolo al roost. Purtroppo, seppur abbastanza isolati, abbiamo registrato episodi di bracconaggio tra cui l'abbattimento di un falco pecchiaiolo.

Observation Camps

Girifalco 2005/2006

During Autumns 2005 and 2006 we made two observation camps between August 24th and Semptember 12th. The area is located on the Appenines in southern Italy. Obervations were made from three differents posts. The aim of this survey was to check the autumn migration of raptors in this area.

We observed 4828 raptors of 21 species the first year and 5324 birds of 20 species in 2006 (see list below). The Honey buzzards were the most numerous. We enjoyed amazing time like when a Goshawk tried to capture a roosting Honey buzzard. Unfortunatly we registered some cases of illegal hunting activities against migrating raptors by a shooted Honey buzzard.
